Ep 16. Lessons in Living Fully: Honoring Emilia Dewi’s Legacy

Season #1

Show Summary

This episode is dedicated in loving memory of my sweet friend, Emilia Dewi. To know Emilia was to know a person who was passionate, kind, a true fighter, an advocate, and beautiful inside and out. She was an absolute gem of a human and a bright spot in the world of OT. Her legacy will leave a tremendous impact on her patients, community, and our profession as a whole.

In today’s episode, I’m reflecting on what Emilia brought to this world and the lessons I’ve learned by being a part of her world. This episode is a reminder that having goals and aspirations is great, and it's equally important to simply enjoy where you're at now, without the expectation or pressure of doing more. For me, that looks like enjoying my life as a mom, for you maybe that’s simply enjoying being an OT without the added pressure to pursue a million things. We can't get so caught up in the pursuit of more that we forget to enjoy exactly where we are.

In the words of Emilia, you have to cherish every moment because life is a vapor. Listen friend, I want you to live your life to the fullest, yes but remember that a full life doesn't always mean more, sometimes it means less. Leaning into less is a message that I'll be carrying with me...and I'm sharing in hopes this episode, tribune, and reflection helps your heart feel a little lighter the way it did for mine.

In today’s show, we’re chatting about:

  • The beautiful inspiration behind this episode
